Deprived from sleep is every college students stalker. Over loaded with school work and stress from worrying about things helps insomnia and you should stop. Doctors and nurses tell all their tired and sick students who come seek for help. But looking at reality, we students cant get enough sleep which is at least 8 hours of sleep every night. No matter how hard you do the math, average college students cant get more than 6 hours of sleep. It seems enough at first, but this makes the body weak in all ways. Athletes need more sleep to recover the worked out muscles but they also have school work to take care. During exam crunch-time, many students are burnt out from the lack of sleep. Lack of sleep affects grades and most importantly the entire body! But how do college students stay awake for so long and still maintain their grades?
The answer is simple, students run on coffees, caffeine pills, and/or energy drinks such as RedBull and Rockstar. I have done this before and the aftermath was disastrous. Spring semester of 2007, I was so busy with countless projects, papers, and tests that I stayed up five days straight with only 10hours of sleep in total. I emptied a whole pack of caffeine pills (with 24 pills) alone and finished more than ten energy drinks. Since I couldnt drink coffee back then, I had to rely on energy drinks during class to keep myself awake. But now that my system is so used to caffeine pills and energy drinks, they do not work so I cant pull 2-all nighters in a row, not that I want to.
From experience, I advice that, if you are planning to do an all-nighter, you should sleep for at least five hours after your last class and wake up at night, then take a nice hot shower and eat something to keep you running. Avoid taking caffeine pills, but if you need to, do not take two as stated, take one pill only. Caffeine pills will keep you awake for as long as eight hours so dont take any pills or consume any caffeinated drinks until the pill dies out. When you consumed a large amount of caffeine, it is dangerous and you should keep drinking water and eat non-oily things (like salad).
If you over take caffeine pills, your stomach might not start accepting food or drinks so do not over take it. For your health and for your grades, do not reach for the caffeine pills unless you are in desperate need. Drinking energy drinks are harmful as well, it pumps your heart so fast and you feel extra tired so avoid it. Drinking coffee is the safest option but dont over drink it. After two or three consecutive all-nightering, you might feel insomniac but this is natural because your body is so used to staying up late, so just turn off all your lights and lay on bed and by the time you know it, youll be sound asleep.
