Dorms? They stink. I once over heard someones conversation during class not long ago then I started wondering, do dorms really stink? I walked around three dorm buildings in my school, Clark University, and I have come to a conclusion that first year dorms are messy and smelly while mixed class dorms are clean and smell-free. But thats just that hall ways, the rooms rare has smells and the messy part I do not know.

Your dorm room is the only place where you can relax and rest your wings, its the only space you have in the states unless you have a family somewhere in the states. But for me, I have a brother who is hours away by train and he is always busy and I cant go see him every weekend even though I want to. So I end up staying in my dorm room doing homework and just relaxing. Staying indoors is really fun actually, especially in this New England climate where winter is like five months long. Honestly speaking, I enjoy staying in my dorm.

What do I do that is so fun? thank you for asking. Nothing special is the answer. I have a room mate who keeps me good company all the time and being a simple person that I am, I just decorate, clean, and move the furniture around once in a while. Decorating the room is always fun, but dont draw, paint, or nail the school properties because you will get fined at the end of the year. I buy simple things like lamps to change the lightings of the room, buying posters and sticking them up on the walls are fun. I love taking pictures with friends and of sceneries so I get them printed out and stick them on the wall. The tip is, buy things that are easy to store, dont buy many small things, heavy things or huge things because its going to be hard when you start moving out from your dorm at the end of the school year.

Another tip is to clean. I try to clean my room at least twice every month. Psychologically speaking, cleaning your space clears up minds and helps sort out things that has been bothering you. I tend to worry a lot over small things, so cleaning really helps. Then while you are cleaning, you can move around your furniture and change the mood of your room. Tip here is to keep your desk by the window(s) because when youre stressed out with work, or is stuck in a thought while writing your major paper, you can look outside and take a break this is really nice when its snowing especially at night! Another tip is to keep your furniture (beds and desks) by the wall so you can create a mini living space. Having an open space in the middle of the room is always fun you can put a carpet and few pillows so you can watch a movie with your friends, or you can even exercise! If youre into movies or listening to music, you can get speaker sets and place it all over your room and create your own home-theatre! These are some of the few things I do that keeps me living! Try it for yourself, and share your tips on how you can enjoy dorm life!
