Dining halls might be mass-produced food and might not taste well all the time. But then if you look closely at the menu and the things thats inside the food, its healthy. Might look dull, but the chefs working behind the scenes think of us students before anything and any one. College students have the tendencies of messing up their sleeping cycles and everyone understands, were all in, or used to be in, college where school work just keeps us awake until 2, 3am almost every night. When the sleeping cycle is irregular, so is the eating cycles students eat whatever food they can find whenever they feel hungry. Bad eating habits can cause short focus span in class and frequent fatigue. Illness is the enemy of all students during the semester/quarter.
The dining halls help students even faculties and staffs replenish the lacking nutrition balance by providing us nutrition-rich food.
Eating out all the time can also be a cause to unhealthy lifestyles. Whenever you eat out you order the food you crave for or want. Doesnt mean that you will find all the needed nutrition in the food you order at restaurants.
Away from family, eating cycles usually deteriorate. And campus dining halls are there for you, for everyone as long as school is open. It might sound odd, but the campus dining is one of the healthiest food-resource away from home. If you do get sick of the food, eat off campus once in a while but be sure to eat at the dining halls at least twice a week to get your nutrition inside your system. You can also meet lots of new friends as well!
